Scarborough to the world!!!

We are past the halfway mark of our Scarborough Proud open mic series powered by Choice Properties @choicereit in partnership with R.I.S.E @rise_edt

Let's keep the energy high and the talent flowing. We pass the mic to our next featured artists: @ShahaddahJack & @Achanté

Shahaddah Jack, a 20-year-old bilingual spoken word poet, performer, human rights activist, and student of life from Tkaronto. Recently releasing her debut single "My Mother’s Daughter," she has graced 100+ stages, including the renowned history stage. Shahaddah, a proud graduate of the remix project, weaves her diverse cultural background into her powerful poetry, addressing human rights, the black experience, and the challenges of adolescence. Named BGC Canada’s 2022 National Youth of the Year and recognized as one of Streets of Toronto’s most inspirational women of 2022, Shahaddah invites you to explore her world through her debut book, "Underrated Royalty," available on Amazon.

Achanté: With 2 decades in the performing and recording industry in two different continents, Achanté is a Mumbai-bred, Toronto- based powerhouse musician. She blends analog, digital, and global sounds to pen rich and intimate landscapes around her voice as her lead instrument. Achanté’s music is anything but formulaic, rooted in old-school jazz and funk, interwoven with soul-pop, electronica & Carnatic noodling. She’s lent her vocals to major Bollywood movies & featured on the radio but what truly makes her light up, is the ability to connect human beings to themselves, to each other, and to the world, through music. She will be releasing her debut E.P. titled ‘Journey to the Centre of the Hearth’ in August,  a sonic journey connecting Eastern and Western worlds and a peek into the artists’ multicultural upbringing. She has already released the first track “Cheeni Kum” and has 8 shows lined up this summer in Toronto!
